Massive Iceberg Near Greenland Prompts Evacuations Over Flooding, Tsunami Concerns

A huge iceberg edging closer to a small Greenland community has sparked evacuations over concerns of a potential tsunami and subsequent flooding on Friday, according to Newsweek. Even though the iceberg appears to be grounded, chunks of ice were falling off into the sea and creating large waves earlier in the week, according to local outlet Kalaallit Nunaat Radio (KNR). “There are 180 inhabitants and we are very concerned and are afraid,” said Karl Petersen, chair for the local council in the island of Innaarsuit.
