WMO Retires Maria, Harvey, Irma, Nate As Hurricane Names After Catastrophic 2017 Season

The names of four hurricanes from 2017 are going to be retired after an intensely destructive season according to a statement released on Thursday by the World Meteorological Organization. National Public Radio said the international body responsible for naming hurricanes said that it would no longer be using Harvey, Irma, Nate, and Maria to name hurricanes. U.S. Has New Plan To Fight NKorea: Shoot Down Missiles As They Launch

Testifying before Congress Thursday US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said the US military is developing the technology to shoot down North Korean missiles as they take off, Newsweek reported. Arms experts believe the technology would greatly improve the US’s ability to stave off a nuclear attack from the rogue North, the report said.
